danced meetings

´Danced Meetings´ starts with a question ¿Can I give you a dance performance? This could happen at any place in the city; while you are waiting for someone in a square or at a train station, in a park or even in a theatre...¿Would you accept it?

The aim of the project is to show the relationship between dance and public space. Dance is taken outside theatres to meet all kinds of audiences. Most people who are offered the performance don’t have a direct relationship with dance language; they may even have no idea about contemporary dance. The encounters take place in many different sites in Madrid, Barcelona, Valladolid and Granada. After the intimate meeting a dialogue is established with the person who stopped, a dialogue where theatre and performing arts practices are the main topic. During the short interviews, all kinds of answers about dance, theatre and fears were given.

The piece establishes a connection with the concept of waiting by highlighting those spaces in a city which make it possible to meet a stranger and start a dialogue.
